Hi all,

I am from the UK and have applied to sit the NY Bar Exam in February.

I had to wait for my law school to send a transcript to me in order for me to forward to BOLE. On receipt of this, I sent my law school transcript and handwriting sample last saturday (23 January) and they have not arrived as yet! (USPS website says "Inbound International Arrival, January 26, 2010, 9:45 pm, ISC NEW YORK NY(USPS) & Origin Post is Preparing Shipment." I'm not sure what that means but i am starting to panic as I'm not sure it will arrive by tomorrows deadline (1 February).

Does anybody know how strict BOLE are with regards to this deadline? I have a receipt of my sent item (which was supposed to arrive in 5 days) - will they understand my situation? Do they accept late proofs?

Please advise - i'm panicking as I am quite well prepared for the exam and have booked everything.

Why don't you call BOLE and ask them. whenever I had problem I called BOLE office, people are co-operating. If you tell them they can guide you. They might keep note of the fact that you have sent the documents.

You indicated you are quite well prepared.  How long have you been studying and what study tools have you been using, e.g. Barbri, etc?

Stop panicking and keep studying. They are definetly flexible with the date for receipt of eligibilty proofs, I know this because I applied to do the 2009 Feb exam and then decided that I was not prepared enough to sit it, I didnt inform Bole initailly and so they sent me another request for proofs, handwriting etc and stated  that  i had missed the first deadline of 1st  of Feb but the deadline date was extended. If I am not mistaken it was extended for another week or so. It wouldnt hurt to call them though, they are helpful.

I contacted them yesterday and they were very understanding. They said it should be fine if it gets there by the end of the week and if not, I need to send a fax exaplaining my situation and details of my receipt, tracking number etc. I'm so relieved! They were great.
