Jeff's excellent reply says it all. As a licensed social worker with years of experience working with adults with ADD, I can tell you that your feelings of shame are unwarranted, though understandable. Please know that everyone learns in their own way. You are not "handicapped," you are a different learner. The last thing you need is to beat up on yourself for a condition that you were born with. Who knows, you may end up as a lawyer specializing in representing ADD adults under the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act). Go for it.
