I really liked PowerDreams. It does not give you the law you need to memorize, but instead provides guided visualization to help you to retain and mentally organize the information. There is also an mp3 that takes you through the entire bar experience to alleviate anxiety. All of the mp3's in PowerDreams have binaural beats which are supposed to change your brain waves to allow you to focus, relax or sleep...depending on your needs. I listed to the "Rules of Law" mps just before walking in each day and felt relaxed and ready.
I am in no way associated with PowerDreams. I just really liked it! A tip: adjust your audio program (itunes, or whatever) to start 34 seconds into each mp3 because there is a stupid, non-relaxing warning about not driving, etc., while using it. Another thing, you need to be wearing headphones because the mp3's are sending different tones to each of your ears (your brain catches on to the difference, which is what induces the desired mental state).
Again, it does not "teach" you the law. The most useful part to me was the "Rules of Law" because it allowed me to mentally organize the enormous about of information we need to memorize.
I personally thought it was worth the money. I still use some of the recordings for relaxation! It is expensive, but if you have trouble organizing the info in your head, it may be worth it!

| Hi, Just wondering...how was powerdreams....it's also been five years since I last graduated and had a couple of unsuccessful attempts at the bar. So I took some time off and want to sit for the February bar. But without the horrible stress and test anxiety I have always been plagued with! Any thoughts on the powerdreams recordings? Are they realistic...are they worth it? Can't tell you how much money I've put into this exam. So I really can't afford to spend another 300, especially in these times! |

I work at a DV shelter and my position will become an attorney position. It will be primarily family law, protective orders, immigration and name changes. We'll see where I'll go from here! Who knows. I am just grateful my children are now healthy and that I have a wonderful family.

| It took me 5 years to take the bar because my second daughter was born two months before I graduated law school. I was not willing to be away from my newborn to put in the time required for studying. By the time she was two, I was ready to study for the bar. Unfortunately, this same daughter was diagnosed with cancer. All plans were put on hold and I conceived daughter number three. My daughter is in remission now, but it left us in financial ruins and I could not afford the bar review class, child care and the exam fees. Unfortunately, my father passed away. There was just enough money in his estate to pay to take the bar exam. I am so thankful I passed because I do not know if I would have been able to afford to take it again. Uplifting, huh? :) If I can do it, so can you!!! |

Thank you for your response, mom of three! (I was the "llll" - no idea why:)) congrats again, did you study for the bar only two months or it took you more?
i knew I failed July so started studying mid-Sept for February. I agree that at least outlining helps. i am waiting for the grades, although know what exactly failed. I know one thing for sure, when you study, the results are obvious. I practiced a lot of MBEs for feb 09 and got 114, which I considered pretty good for then, but for july 09 didn't have time for MBE and I know I did very badly. But practiced essays for july and i think I advanced in that area. this time i am very hopeful -- i am ready to take the bull by the horns:)) congrats again to all who passed! |

I had a babysitter help so I could go to Barbri classes. My husband gets home at 3,pm, so the days I was not working, I would go to a Starbucks and try my best to stick to the Barbri schedule. I did more essay outlining than actually writing, used pre-printed flash cards and used "PowerDreams". I actually think PowerDreams really helped me organize all the information that was floating around my head.
