I used Liosi and he did nothing for me. He just took my money and sent me a bunch of essays to write. He never corrected them. Our agreement was to meet every week to go over the essays and for me to write essays in his office under timed conditions. For the essays I wrote at home, he would come in with a book containing model answers and spend 10 minutes with me. It was no help to me. For the timed writing essays, I did write essays under timed conditions, but he would barely look at the essays and very little if any feedback.

He really emphasizes his hypos, but we are not doing hypos in the bar exam we are doing complete essays written by the bar examiners. In my opinion, those hypos are a waste of time and so is his course. Moreover, he is lazy in that he wants to get in as many students as he can in order to maximize the money he gets. He will sign up 20-30 students and spend very little time with each. Unless you offer him more money than he will give you more of his time. Further, he continuously cancels appointments. Every other week he would cancel an appointment. This guy is terrible. Save your money. If you cant find a tutor you feel is better than him, study yourself b/c you will get more from studying on your own then working with Liosi.

crim pro MBE

Two police officers in uniform were on foot patrol in a neighborhood frequented by drug dealers. They sa S who, when she swq them , turned around and started to walk quickly away. The police ran after her and shouted "Stop and don'take another step, lady!" S turned, looked at the police and stopped. She put her arms up in the air. As the police approached, she threw a small object into nearby bushes. The police retrived the object, which turned out to be a small bag of cocaine, and then arrested S.
S was charged with possession of coca. She moves pretrail to supress its use as evidence on the grounf that it wa obtained as the result of an illegal search and seizure.
Motion should be:
A granted, because the police didn't know the ithem was coca until after they had seized it.
B granted, because the police acquired the coca as the result of and unlawful seizure.
C denied, because the police had probable cause to seize the packet.
D denied, because S voluntarily discarded the contraband.
Sorry for the typos.

Difference b/w tortious and criminal assault and battery

1. What is the difference between tortious battery and criminal battery?

The only difference which I noticed is that intent is required for tortious battery, whereas criminal battery is a general intent crime (though I am not sure how I will apply to facts) any examples?

2. What is the difference between tortious assault and criminal assault?

Can't decide where to take the bar exam - advice needed ASAP

Hi,

I am graduating in May 2010 from LSU, and I am so confused and just
can't make up my mind as to what Bar Exam to take. The choices I have
are NC, Va, or Texas. Here are the reasons for those 3 states:

NC: My parents live there and I went to undergraduate there. However I don't have any legal connections there.

Va: My sister lives there and there are a lot of government job opportunities there.

Texas: I worked there the summer of my 2L year however the firm said
they were on a hiring freeze and did not make me an offer. I have a
bunch of connections there (but they are not substantial where they
will give me a job tomorrow morning. I just know a lot of people
there), and I have been dating a guy who lives there whom I really like
but it's not serious yet.

My heart tells me to go to Texas but since I dont have a job right now,
the question is how will I survive there and study for the Bar at the
same time.

My parents have offered me to go home and be with them until I find a
job however after living away from home for so many years I don't know
if I can move back home and be comfortable with that.

If you were in my shoes, what would you do? I have to submit my
applications within a week or two. I already missed the initial
deadline for NC and Texas because I just couldnt come to a decision.
Now I have to pay late fees. Please please give any constructive advice
and share your experiences.

Many thanks!

Hi!
Could anyone please explain the ways of dividend distributions? More specifically, I don't understand the differences between the stock and the bond dividends and why one is a transfer from capital and other from liabilities.
What are split-shares used for?
Thanks very much!

Schizophrenia/Jail time/Loads of Debt and the Moral Character Application for the CA Bar

I graduated from law school in 2001 and am scheduled to take the February '10 administration of the California Bar Exam.

I have suffered from schizophrenia since 1996. My delusions intermittently incapacitated me (hospitalized 10+ times - including 51/50s - through 2008). I spent time on the streets and ran up massive debts on credit cards due to my illness. My delusions resulted in a conviction for misdemeanor battery (Oct '05 - fight with parents who demanded that I take my medication).

Since 2008, I have regularly taken my medication and have not suffered from any of the symptoms of schizophrenia. I have two (2) psychiatrists who will provide written opinions that my condition can be treated provided I continue to regularly take my medication.

I also now run a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation that aids the homeless. I hope to pass the Bar exam and provide legal assistance to the mentally ill and the homeless. However, I fear that my history of mental illness will prove too large an impediment to any such dreams.

Specifically, I would like some advice as to how I should address the (i) schizophrenia (hospitalizations, 51/50s), (ii) debt, (iii) jail - will I be presumptively denied. Anyone with similar experiences/glaring problems?

Must I hire an attorney?

Best regards,

Tony

One of my clients sent me the following e-mail that contains a post from your forum. The post is a complete lie. It is not how I operate my business. If you knew me on a personal level, you would know this to be entirely true, and you would know that the post is complete bullshit.

It is so easy for competitors to post anonymous dirt. Or for a "mental patient" former client to keep harassing you. And it simply is not fair. I have the heart and soul of a teacher and I have helped many, many students through the years. I have a passion for this business, and do not appreciate the victimization.

It doesn't take a brain surgeon to realize that I am public enemy #1 to many courses and even tutors: (1) for years, in my newspaper I talked about how poor a course bar/bri was when it came to challenged candidates; (2) I called out another course/tutor on a 94% pass rate; (3) Kaplan knows I am getting to write an article about their alleged 90% pass rate; and (4) I have had a recent run-in with Fleming's.

In any event, the post is a complete fabrication and the facts therein aren't anywhere close to the truth. (1) If the person was truly an in-office client, he/she would not have been sent a bunch of essays to write. In-office clients are not "sent" anything. (2) I never graded any essays? Yeah, right. (3) My mini-hypos are far from being a waste of time -- they lay the groundwork for analytical writing.

It seems a waste of time that I have to respond to the posting of a "mental patient", who hides behind a fake name like a coward.

Sincerely, Steve Liosi, Esq.
Program Director
www.BARPERFECT.com
(877) 280-5749 (toll free)
(714) 376-9825 (office cell -- best #)
(714) 276-1475 (fax)

-------- Original Message --------
Subject: For your reference Fw: Steve Liosi/Barperfect.com [00013391:00000000] From: "XXXXXX"
Date: Sun, February 07, 2010 11:39 am
To: "Steve Liosi" Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry

From: barexam@all4jds.com Date: 5 Feb 2010 16:23:47 -0500
To: Subject: Steve Liosi/Barperfect.com [00013391:00000000]

Author:Calbarrepeater

I used Liosi and he did nothing for me.
CA Bar essay predictions Feb '10

Almost certain to appear: Real Property
                                              Community Property
                                              Will and/or Trusts

The only two that are, given historical frequency rates, most certain to appear: Real Property (never been skipped more than two consecutive administrations) and Community Property (never been skipped more than three consecutive administrations).

And I DOUBT Civ pro is going to appear since it was tested Feb '09 and as a crossover in two questions in July '09.

Caveat: the first time I took the Bar exam, Barbri (Sakai) erred in 4 out of 6 essay predictions.
